Optimising Building-to-Building and Building-for-Grid Services Under Uncertainty: A Robust Rolling Horizon Approach

Energy systems are undergoing radical changes that have resulted in buildings being regarded as proactive players with the potential to contribute positively energy networks. This study investigates role of active (ABs) prosumers by introducing a building-to-building (B2B) strategy for exchange between residential units, well building-for-grid (B4G) model exploiting demand flexibility microgrids (RMGs). The mid-market rate mechanism is adopted produce local market price signals at RMG level. A robust rolling horizon controller developed real-time management community ABs. control philosophy can improve robustness face weather and prediction errors. proposed method multi-level optimisation which pursues multiple goals while making trade-off operational cost occupant comfort. Finally, repercussions COVID-19 induced power consumption resulting from changing lifestyle building occupancy profile analysed case study. results show B2B B4G reduce bills 18.45%, notable computational efficiencies achieved when benchmarked against conventional methods.
